Garden Pantry Stock Up #1: Sluggo

I use this organic slug control like I use salt and pepper.  In the spring and fall especially (both wet but still eminently plantable seasons in the Pacific Northwest), I’ll sprinkle these curious little white granules over freshly-planted beds of lettuce and other greens then rest easy knowing the slimy marauders will have been kept at bay.  Sluggo is rain-resistant, pet- and wildlife-safe, and eventually degrades into the garden soil adding iron and phosphorus.  No silly “beer traps”, no expensive “copper barrier”.  Just season the garden with Sluggo once or twice in the spring and fall, and you’re good. Can be used up to and including day of harvest, though not sure why you’d want to use it day of. Get a jug and keep it handy!
